The visit to the Comunidad los Acuáticos is one of the most welcoming and emotional excursions that we can offer in our territory.
Undoubtedly, the legend that surrounds them shows how difficult and intricate many members of the families that started this tradition still survive.
They say that since they could not access medical services at the time, their ancestors decided to choose to use the water that emanates from a spring in their community, for the palliative use of some conditions they suffered from, such as headaches, stomach ailments and rheumatic pains, that is where the name of Los Acuáticos comes from.

One of the three forts that guarded the city, this one in particular is at the exit to Coliseo, a link that goes to the City of Matanzas or to Jovellanos. There are two more forts like this one, one at the entrance to Cardenas and the other at the exit to Colon.
Declared National monument, its exposure rooms reflect the history of the place as a colonial military fortress. A Unique construction of its kind in the central region, built to keep intruders away from a great pocket bay (88 square km of surface) with deep draft and quiet waters and located on a rock in the canal of the entrance of the Cienfuegos bay only 25 meters high above the sea level. Geographically speaking it occupies the occidental border of the canal of the entrance to the bay, opposite to Pasacaballos beach. Once it had been built, it was the third most important fortress in Cuba.

In 1790 people put there a cross to offer cult to the 3rd of May (Cross Day). This festivity is simultaneously saint and desecrated. This activity begin with a pilgrimage until this place and celebrate a mass. After that, there is a party, a happy country fest (romería) with music and dances. The access stair, with 450 steps, was inaugurated on 3rd May 1950. From the circular square located in the top of the hillock, is possible to see a nice view of all the city. For this reason this place was turned into a view point (the Spaniards built in this place a watch tower).

El centro de atracción es el Yate Granma, de casi 20 de eslora y 3,6 mts de manga con el cual desembarcaron el 2 de diciembre de 1956, 82 revolucionarios al mando de Fidel en la antigua provincia de Oriente. Aquí también se encuentra el camión utilizado por los estudiantes durante el asalto a Palacio. Además aparecen trofeos, armas, aviones, los cuales jugaron un papel importante durante la lucha de nuestro pueblo.
Housed in the former Presidential Palace, this museum is Cuba's most complete exhibition on the Revolution, with maps, weaponry, personal articles, photographs, the Granma, tanks, and warplanes. A must-see.
Se comenzó a construir como sede del gobierno de la provincia pero fue tanto su magnitud y gastos que se destinó al gobierno de la nación, quedando inaugurado en 1920. Fue asaltado el 13 de marzo de 1957 por el Directorio Estudiantil Universitario con el objetivo de ajusticiar al tirano Fulgencio Batista, el cual logro escapar y se desató una mayor represión contra la población. Actualmente como museo, la exposición que alberga está dividida en tres etapas cronológicas:
El Periodo colonial, la Seudorepública y la Revolución

Building where sisters Lourdes and Cristina Giralt were born and lived for a long period of time during their youth. These two revolutionary girls were murdered in Habana in 1958 during the Batista tyranny.
